Des O’Connor is a former driving school owner who built and ran a successful London-based school with 20 instructors. He understands first-hand the realities of long days in the car, missed calls between lessons, late-night admin and the constant pressure to stay competitive and profitable in a changing industry.
Over the years, Des has spoken at national driving instructor events and collaborated with major industry organizations including the Motor Schools Association, ADINJC, Intelligent Instructor, ADDSA, and previously with the former DIA and DSA. His focus has always been helping instructors modernize their marketing, increase enquiries, raise professional standards and build stronger businesses.
He has also appeared on BBC One Show and Richard & Judy, bringing positive visibility to the driving instructor profession and demonstrating innovative approaches within the industry.
After studying and implementing AI systems extensively, Des recognized that no one was explaining artificial intelligence to driving instructors in a clear, practical and industry-specific way. Rather than offering generic business advice, he began developing AI strategies tailored specifically for ADIs.
